I have said, many times before that Baudette is the little city that does big things better than any other small town. I was thinking about that Saturday night as I attended the benefit for the Strohl family at the V.F.W club. I was fortunate to be able to help set up the event in the afternoon and see a parade of people bringing in their donations, food dishes and offering to help in any way that they could. As I returned later that evening, I saw a huge number of people there to support the family by having a meal and taking part in raffles and auctions. Towards the end of the evening it was announced that the benefit had raised something close to $ 17,000, and that number was still growing. Those of you who had anything to do, big or small, with putting on this benefit should be very proud of yourselves. I know I am proud of how this community rallies around each other and it is a privilege to live in the same community as all of you.
