Elaine D. Frutiger passed away on June 6, 2010 at the Warroad Senior Living Center at the age of 79.
Elaine Frutiger was born near Bemis Hill in America Township, Roseau, Minnesota on April 1, 1931 to Clarence and Florence (Johnston) Perry.  She attended country school through the eighth grade and was later bussed to the Warroad School.  When she was 16 she went to the A.C. Agriculture School in Crookston, MN. She liked Elaine D. FrutigerElaine D. Frutigerdoing farm work and working in the dust and dirt.
On November 22, 1949, Elaine married Chris Frutiger at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Warroad. There they raised a family of three sons and one daughter, Larry, Lenny, Les and Lori.  
Elaine loved singing country western music and yodeling. She could yodel up a storm.  Elaine did a lot of knitting and crocheting. She made doll clothes, sweaters and many beautiful afghans for family and friends. She also enjoyed collecting antiques and collectibles. She sold Avon and was maybe her best customer. Elaine loved to walk and as small as she was, would out walk most anyone.  Elaine worked as a clerk at Hartz grocery stores in Edmonds, WA and in Warroad and she also worked as a waitress.
She is survived by her husband Chris Frutiger; sons Larry, Lenny and Les Frutiger; daughter Lori (Alfred) Alton of Badger, MN; sister Irene Gudmundson of Lake Bronson, MN; sister-in-law Lillian Fortier of Warroad, MN; brother-in-law Evan Frutiger of Warroad, MN; granddaughters Kimberly Hicks and Keana Frutiger and great-grandson, Zachary Hicks.  She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Florence Perry.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Elaine Frutiger of Warroad, and formerly of Baudette, was held on Thursday, June 10, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Warroad at 2  p.m.
