Interim Police Chief

The Police Department has received numerous complaints about loud music coming from vehicles traveling in the city limits of Baudette.  The Baudette City Ordinance (70.06 section B) states:  It is unlawful for any person to operate, or use a light-motor vehicle in a manner as to cause, or allow to be caused, excessive noise levels as a result of unreasonable rapid accelerations, deceleration, revving of engine, squealing of tires, honking horns or as a result of the operation of audio devises including but not limited to: radios, phonograph, tape players, compact disc players or any other sound amplifying device on or from the light-motor vehicle.  This ordinance states that celebrations such as Halloween and other legal holidays and celebrations in connection with duly authorized parades, emergency vehicles, and or car alarms are exempt from the provisions of the “Excessive Noise” ordinance.
The 4th of July celebration is coming up very soon!  The Baudette Police Department will be continually enforcing our “Consumption in Public Places” ordinance during this celebration.  The Baudette City Ordinance (112.05) states that no person shall consume intoxicating liquor or 3.2 malt liquor in a public park, on any public street, sidewalk, parking lot or alley, or in any public place other than on the premises of an establishment licensed under this chapter, in a municipal liquor dispensary if one exists in the city, or where consumption and display of liquor is lawfully permitted.  There will be a fenced off area where the beer garden will be located.  During the 4th of July celebration, people must stay within the designated beer garden or inside the local liquor establishments while consuming alcoholic beverages.
If anyone has any further questions regarding the above ordinances, please do not hesitate to call the Baudette Police Department at 218-634-2911.
I want to thank everyone for their continued support and cooperation and wish everyone a safe and happy upcoming holiday!
