Patty Beckel will lead the Lake of the Woods County Board this year, as she was nominated and voted in to be chairperson at the Jan. 6th meeting. Chosen as board vice-chair was Edward Arnesen.
Beckel, Arnesen and Tom Hanson were sworn in after being elected in November. Hanson is the only new face on the board. Beckel and Arnesen have served previously.

Newspaper
The Baudette Region and Northern Light both made bids to be the official county newspaper. Both papers bid 70 cents for most categories, so the tie breaker was the bid for second publication of county legals. In that category the Northern Light bid 70 cents and The Baudette Region bid $3.50, so the Northern Light was given the official newspaper status. The Baudette Region will get the second publication of the county financial statement.
